EP022: Karen Quinn on going from deep post-natal depression to an empty nest in the blink of an eye

guests podcast Apr 10, 2019

I’m excited to share this conversation with you, because it’s a heart-to-heart with my dear friend Karen Quinn. She’s an unusual artist, a healer and mama to two fully grown men. In the blink of an eye she went from being the fully-absorbed mama to a premature baby, then two littles within two years, and now finding herself (more than two decades later) in an empty nest with lots of time to rediscover what makes her light up.

And boy oh boy, has she succeeded in figuring it out!

In this episode we talk about post-natal depression and our shared terror that someone would take our babies away if we admitted how awful we were feeling, how Karen figured out that giving up everything about herself outside of her role as mama was NOT the path to joy, and what she’s doing about it now that lights her up every single day.

Karen’s investigations into joy took her from stay-at-home mama to pediatric nurse, to aromatherapy and eventually perfumery studies. She’s found the most incredible way to blend (pun intended) all of her passions and deep experience to change people’s lives for the better. She creates bespoke perfumes that tell your story through scent, long before you can get the words out. She creates healing potions (more on that in the episode) and she REALLY is a modern-day alchemist.

She is amazing, and so are her Pocket Potions. To find out more about Karen, visit her beautiful online home and DEFINITELY check her out on Instagram where she deploys even more of her talent.
